A Brief History of the Cape Codder

Back in the 1940’s, Massachusetts-based cranberry grower’s cooperative Ocean Spray introduced a cocktail containing cranberry juice, vodka, and lime called the Red Devil. People liked the drink but it wasn’t until the 1960’s that it really caught on.

In local bars, the cocktail became known as the Cape Codder.

No matter what you call it, this vodka cranberry cocktail has been one of America’s favorite drinks for decades!

Is Vodka Cranberry a Girly Drink?

Vodka is an alcohol made from grain or potatoes that is usually distilled twice for purity. It doesn’t have a strong flavor, so it goes well in cocktails as long as there’s some fruit juice like cranberry in the mix.

Vodka Cranberry is one of the most popular drinks in America, but we need to answer one very important question.

Friends socializing over cocktails

Is vodka cranberry a girly drink?

The notion that a drink might be “girly” is a little outdated. Vodka cranberry can be enjoyed by men and women. In fact, this concoction packs quite a punch! Vodka cranberry has been called the perfect mixed drink for first timers as well as being appreciated by long-time cocktail enthusiasts.

In my opinion, it’s time to abandon old stereotypes and enjoy a few cocktails with friends!
